We are pleased to share that a new peer-reviewed study led by our Toxicology & Risk Assessment team has been published in the Society of Toxicology’s (SOT) journal Toxicological Sciences:

“Dermal absorption and metabolism of [14C]-C12 alkyl benzoate in Finsolv® TN in human skin in vitro”

This research highlights our continued commitment to advancing robust, science-based alternatives to animal testing, in line with the ‘last resort’ principle enshrined within the EU REACH regulation.

The paper details an in vitro human skin penetration and metabolism study using Finsolv® TN, an exclusive-use cosmetic ingredient from Innospec Performance Chemicals.

The data formed a critical component of a broader human based toxicokinetic (TK) evidence package as input to physiologically based kinetic (PBK) models to estimate worker systemic exposure during the manufacture and formulation of cosmetic products. This work demonstrates the potential of TK-informed, exposure-led strategies to reduce reliance on animal testing while meeting regulatory safety requirements.
