Occupational Safety

We focus on understanding how the behaviour of individuals contributes to safety culture. By integrating our learning from years of experience, investigations and advice from external safety experts, we have everything in place to provide the safest possible working environment. Nothing is more important to us.

Health, Safety & Environmental Training

Our ongoing training programs demonstrate our commitment to targeting zero accidents and minimizing the risk of accident or injury. We provide our employees with the information they need in a timely and effective manner so that safety is always at the forefront of people’s minds. We are committed to continually raising standards.

To enable employees to be competent and safe in their roles, teams from all our sites participate in a variety of site-specific training courses each year. In 2023, over 21,000 hours of internal and external health, safety and environmental training were undertaken.

Our core courses include:

  • Risk assessment
  • Emergency response
  • Firefighting
  • Dangerous goods transport
  • First aid
  • Permit to work
  • Process safety management
  • Confined space
  • Personal and respiratory protection
  • Hearing conservation
  • Manual handling, working at height, and fall protection
  • Wildlife training
  • Waste management

In 2023, we also conducted:

Safe Driving Campaign

Our field service and technical personnel drove almost 10 million miles in 2023. With 200+ company vehicles, safe driving is a top priority at Innospec Oilfield Services. We are committed to a safe driving program for employees. All staff members participate in semi-annual behind-the-wheel training provided by our inhouse safe driving instructors. These courses educate employees on safe driving practices to keep them and the people in our communities safe.

Behavioural Safety

All sites have an annual objective to develop and maintain an ongoing behavioural safety training program. The program, targeting all personnel, focuses on actively promoting hazard identification, personal safety risk assessments and reinforcing the ‘safety comes first’ principle.

Our Journey To Zero Harm

In 2017, we launched a new corporate behavioural safety improvement program, Journey To Zero Harm, setting out our expectations in a clear and consistent message and providing the tools to help everyone focus efforts on achieving our goal of zero harm to people, the environment and our assets. The focus of the program is ‘Embracing Safety Together’ and sets out a shared commitment to delivering a positive safety culture.
