A great example comes from our toxicology team, whose work in Next Generation Risk Assessments (NGRA) is helping advance product safety while avoiding unnecessary animal testing. In 2025, we partnered with Unilever, Charles River Laboratories, and Roper Tox Consulting Limited to publish a joint paper demonstrating how an in vitro skin penetration and metabolism study, to support the safety assessment of FINSOLV® TN ( C12-15 alkyl benzoate), an emollient used in cosmetics.

The publication was recognized by the Society of Toxicology (SOT) Dermal Toxicology Specialty Section (DTSS), receiving the 2025 Paper of the Year Award, an honor reserved for outstanding contributions in skin toxicology and pharmacology. Jay Dawick, Senior Toxicology and Risk Assessment Manager, accepted the award on behalf of the team, at SOT’s 65th Annual Meeting in San Diego and chose Humane World for Animals to receive the monetary prize, supporting their efforts to prevent animal cruelty and suffering.

This work also enabled Innospec to remain the only high-volume EU REACH registered supplier of C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate to avoid new animal testing following European Chemicals Agency’s (ECHA) 2017 dossier compliance check. It demonstrates what is possible when scientific rigor, collaboration, ethical responsibility, and innovation come together.

We are committed to making a positive difference in the communities where we operate and empowering our people to do the same. At Innospec, each employee is entitled to one paid volunteering day each year, giving them the flexibility to support a local cause that is meaningful to them.

Last week, five colleagues from our Innospec Performance Chemicals R&T team chose to use their volunteering day to support Passion for Learning, a charity focused on expanding educational opportunities for children in the local area. As part of the Greener Futures Campaign at Meadow Primary School, the team helped revitalize outdoor learning spaces through gardening and weeding activities, creating a greener, more welcoming environment for young students.

A big thank you to the team for their time, energy, and commitment to making a real difference locally.

We recognize that biodiversity is fundamental to the health of the ecosystems we all depend on, providing food, clean water, fuel and countless other essential services that support our daily lives. That is why we continue to invest in initiatives that protect, restore and enhance natural habitats both on our sites and within our local communities.

Across our global sites, our teams are advancing key biodiversity initiatives, from creating a new wildflower meadow in partnership with the Cheshire Wildlife Trust at our Ellesmere Port site in the UK, and planting over 3,900 tree saplings at our site in Herne, Germany, to supporting community tree planting projects across the US. Our Vernon, France site also sponsors local beehives to help protect vital pollinators.

Across all these initiatives, our goal is to contribute to a more resilient ecosystem in the areas where we operate. We are proud of our teams and partners who help make this possible.

Josh Riley joined Innospec in 2017 as a Technical Service Chemist in Ellesmere Port, UK. He later moved into Performance Chemicals as a Product Specialist, before progressing into a hybrid Product/Sales role in 2024. By October 2024, Josh transitioned fully into Sales as a Junior Sales Manager and now covering the Middle East and Africa.

Josh’s progression reflects our commitment to helping employees build diverse, rewarding careers, encouraging them to explore new opportunities, broaden their experience, and unlock their full potential.

At Innospec, safety is a shared responsibility and a defining part of how we operate. Every day, our teams demonstrate that a strong safety culture is built not only through procedures and systems, but on vigilance, ownership, and the choices we each make before a task even begins.

Now in its ninth year, our Journey to Zero Harm (JTZH) program remains a cornerstone of that culture. This company wide program empowers employees to take personal accountability for safety through a simple but powerful habit: carrying out a 60 second check. Before starting any task, each person pauses to assess risks, consider controls, and ensure that the work can be done safely. At sites including Ellesmere Port, Midland and Pleasanton, the “Safe Employee of the Year” award acknowledges individuals whose consistent actions reinforce a safety-first mindset.

In 2025, we recognized three exceptional colleagues whose actions exemplify our commitment to zero harm. Congratulations to Paul Holland, Nathan Holman and Raul Hernandez for their exceptional contributions. Their leadership, vigilance, and commitment to doing the right thing highlight the strength of our safety culture and the collective responsibility that drives our Journey to Zero Harm program forward.
