Supporting the Next Generation of Women in STEM Across Africa

At Innospec, we believe that innovation thrives when people are given the opportunity to reach their full potential. That is why Innospec Fuel Specialties has partnered with the African Gifted Foundation (AGF), a charity dedicated to supporting young women in pursuing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education and developing Africa’s future STEM leaders. Through this partnership, Innospec is helping to create opportunities for talented young women to access higher education, professional development, and rewarding careers in STEM disciplines.

About the African Gifted Foundation

Founded in 2010, the African Gifted Foundation works to address the underrepresentation of women in STEM fields across Africa. The charity operates the African Science Academy in Ghana, a full-boarding STEM-focused academy where young women from across the continent study advanced Cambridge A-level mathematics and physics, preparing them for higher education and future careers in science, technology, engineering and .

Since opening its academy in 2016, AGF has supported more than 300 young women and has helped students secure scholarships to leading universities around the world. In addition to academic support, the foundation provides mentoring, scholarships, internship and leadership development opportunities that help students gain the skills and confidence needed to succeed in STEM Careers.

Our Partnership

Through this partnership, Innospec Fuel Specialties has committed funding to support five young women studying STEM degrees at African universities over a four-year period. The program helps cover tuition costs while also providing access to development opportunities, including summer schools, mentoring and internships.

Beyond financial support, the partnership aims to provide students with access to industry insight, professional networks and career guidance that can help them successfully transition from education into rewarding STEM careers. As part of the program, Innospec employees will provide one-to-one mentoring, helping students build valuable skills and gain a deeper understanding of opportunities within science technology, and engineering industries.
