At Innospec, we’re committed to using science and innovation to support a more sustainable future. Our advanced fuel additives are engineered to improve combustion efficiency, reduce carbon deposits, and enhance overall fuel performance leading to cleaner, more efficient fuel consumption across marine, gasoline, and diesel applications.

For the first time in 2024, we calculated the total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions avoided from the use of our fuel additives. Based on conservative fuel economy improvements of 2.4% - 4.8%, our analysis shows an estimated 20.8 million metric tonnes of COā‚‚ avoided, compared to if the fuels were burnt without our additives.

To put that into perspective:
- That’s over 200 times the total annual GHG emissions from our site operations.
- Equivalent to the average annual emissions from 4.5 million gasoline-powered cars, or
- The carbon sequestered by 348 million tree seedlings grown over 10 years.

These numbers demonstrate the positive environmental impact of our technology and how we’re supporting our customers’ decarbonization efforts, directly contributing to UN Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy). We’re proud to be part of the solution, utilizing chemistry to advance sustainability.

At Innospec, we’re passionate about inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers. That’s why members of our R+D team in Ellesmere Port, UK, volunteer each year at the 'Chemistry at Work' week hosted at the Catalyst Science Discovery Centre, Widnes, UK.

During the event, our colleagues lead an interactive workshop demonstrating how surfactants are made and used in everyday products, bringing chemistry to life in a fun and accessible way.

Jack Saunders, one of our Polymer Chemists, shared:
ā€œMy favorite thing about participating in this event is the interaction with the children and seeing their interest in science grow. I’m proud to show them that Innospec develops exciting products that impact their everyday lives. The best thing about the demonstration is that even the kids who aren’t that engaged at the start become engaged by the end because it is so simple and fun!ā€

Well done to Jack Saunders, Radha Ramkalawon, Jack Whittaker, and Olivia Fitzpatrick for their commitment to supporting STEM education and sparking curiosity in young minds, because the future of science starts today.
