In June, our Newark, US site proudly hosted an event led by the Delaware Department of Labor (DE DOL) and SafeDE to celebrate companies recognized for outstanding workplace safety practices through the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).

The event featured an award ceremony recognizing workplace safety excellence and a guided site tour sharing Innospec’s safety practices in action. We were proud to receive a SHARP award and a Governor’s proclamation acknowledging our strong commitment to health and safety in the workplace.

ā€œIt was an honor for Laura Dewar, our Vice President, and I to receive the proclamation from Governor Meyer. It recognizes us as an example of excellence in action.ā€ said Audrey Shorter, Regulatory Compliance Manager. ā€œHosting the event was a great way for us to share how businesses can maintain high safety standards and foster a safety-first culture.ā€

We are proud to lead by example through our unwavering commitment to the health and safety of our employees, partners, and local communities.

Health and safety are at the heart of everything we do. We are proud to foster a culture where safe practices are recognized, encouraged, and celebrated across all our global operations.

One of the ways that we acknowledge outstanding performance is through our corporate safety awards and certificate programs, which recognize sites that achieve extended periods without an employee reportable lost time accident (RLTA). Each milestone is marked with a plaque presentation and a donation to a charity chosen by the site’s employees.

In 2024, our Herne, Germany site received a Gold award for reaching an incredible 21 consecutive years without an RLTA. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the dedication, vigilance, and teamwork of everyone at the site. Site employees chose to support a local charity called CafƩ Pluto which helps unemployed young people find jobs.

ā€˜Safety has been the highest priority at the Herne site for decades, and the responsibility of each individual is regularly communicated to all employees by the management team. The last reportable accident of an employee was more than 21 years ago. For us, this award is further proof that it is possible to work accident-free over an increasingly longer period of time.’ Frank Eilers, Senior Manufacturing Manager, Herne

Congratulations to the Herne team for setting such a high standard in safety excellence!

We’re proud to share that Lauren McAnally, Regulatory Ecotoxicologist, participated in the 35th Annual Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) Europe Conference in Vienna on 11-15th May.

During the event, Lauren presented a poster featuring a novel New Approach Method (NAM)-enhanced read-across and Weight of Evidence (WoE) strategy designed to avoid chronic fish testing on alkyl isethionate surfactants under EU REACH. This innovative approach was developed in collaboration with our industry partners at Nouryon and Unilever.

If accepted by European regulatory authorities, the approach has the potential to prevent approximately 2,000 vertebrate fish from chronic toxicity testing, representing a significant step forward in advancing alternatives to animal testing in regulatory science and risk assessment.
We’re excited to be at the forefront of sustainable innovation in chemical safety assessment.
