Our employees are our greatest strength and have helped Fuel Specialties save an estimated US$2.3million in 2017 through the ‘Take the Lead’ employee engagement project.
At the start of 2017, our Fuel Specialties business in Europe, Middle East and Africa and Asia Pacific launched the project and called on employees to come up with ideas of how we could improve. Take the Lead is all about adapting and responding to the changing market conditions and ensuring that we are prepared to meet and overcome any challenges ahead.
The project has been incredibly successful with 1,115 ideas submitted across all areas of our business, from customer services to engineering. Our employees have embraced the opportunity to take ownership for improving the business.
Christian Uerkwitz, Marketing Director, Fuel Specialties was responsible for implementing the project and was really pleased with its success. Talking about the project, Christian said “ There is a real pride in what our employees have achieved through Take the Lead. We are continuing the project in 2018 and are looking to roll out to the other business segments.
“The project has exceeded all our expectations. At the start, we were concerned that employees would see this as a burden – ‘another thing to do’ – but it has been completely the opposite. The project has created a real culture change where everyone is empowered to improve the business and contribute towards our ongoing sustainability.
Engagement and motivation to take part in the program was helped throughout the year through quarterly communications and updates, with an award for the Idea of the Quarter.
