The Fuel Specialties employee engagement program has proved so successful that it is now firmly established as part of our way of working. With over 1,760 employee ideas and savings of US$3.2 million since it started in 2017, the program has demonstrated the innovative approach of our employees. The engagement process has also helped establish a culture of positive change where everyone takes responsibility for improving the business.

Take the Lead has demonstrated the value of cross-department ‘out of the box’ thinking, leading to a number of core projects that have improved our competitiveness and profit. One of these projects has brought together people from across departments and locations to improve the efficiency of our cold flow business. This has included raw material purchasing to manufacturing and logistics, as well as creating a new innovative product range to meet current and future market changes.

“We used the challenging market environment to think carefully about how to secure our position and build a sound structure for our manufacturing now and for the future. Inspired by the quote “After you've done a thing the same way for two years, look it over carefully. After five years, look at it with suspicion" by Alfred E. Perlman, we’re analyzing all aspects of our business to ensure we are delivering in the optimum and most efficient way.”Christian Uerkwitz, Marketing Director, Innospec Fuel Specialties
