We pride ourselves on being open and transparent about our performance, which is why our Responsible Business report is independently verified every year to ensure it is accurate and evidence based.
We also participate in a number of programs and initiatives to benchmark our performance against industry best practice and our peers.
CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project) is a global disclosure system that enables companies to measure and manage their environmental impacts. Through CDP data, investors are better able to mitigate risk and make investment decisions that drive action towards a more sustainable world.
Innospec has now participated in the CDP Disclosure Program for six consecutive years. In previous years, this has been at the request of several of our customers. However, in line with our efforts to increase the transparency of our operations, in 2020 we made the decision to both disclose as a self-selected company and to submit publicly. Our current scores are:
- Climate Change 2021: We maintained a performance band score of B: Management. Our Category scores for Governance and Scope 1 & 2 emissions increased to band score A: Leadership.
- Water Security 2021: We increased our performance band score to B: Management.
- Supplier Engagement Rating (SER) 2021: We achieved a performance band score of B- : Management.
This assessment aims to highlight active supplier engagement strategies, successful supply chain management and opportunities to minimize environmental impacts within the value chain. Find out more in our Supply Chain Management Section.

EcoVadis is a supplier evaluation platform that uses evidence-based assessments to rate the sustainability performance of over 85,000 organisations, across 200 industries and in 160 countries. The platform independently evaluates a broad range of non-financial management systems including Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable procurement. The assessment uses a methodology aligned to international sustainability standards such as the Global Reporting Initiative, UN Global Compact and ISO 26000. Suppliers are scored out of 100 and provided with guidance on their strengths and areas for improvement. This supports assessed companies in focusing their sustainability efforts and developing corrective action plans to improve their sustainability performance.
Innospec has actively taken part in the EcoVadis supply chain sustainability platform assessments since 2014; previously achieving Silver Ratings. This year, we were pleased to announce that Innospec has achieved a Gold Rating for our sustainability performance, for the third time running. Achieving a gold medal puts Innospec in the top 7% of all companies evaluated in our sector globally. In addition, we are recognized as 'Advanced' in the environment, ethics and sustainable procurement categories. Our next assessment is due to take place in 2023.
